A Letter from Raquel
Dear Voter,
I am Raquel Mitchell, a current Will County Board member seeking elected office as Will County Recorder of Deeds. I have lived with my family in Bolingbrook for 9 years. I worked in the private sector in various areas of accounting and finance from Staff Accountant to Pricing Analyst for fifteen years before entering politics in 2009. I was also a licensed real estate broker and worked in commercial real estate for 7 years. Currently, I am a Sr. Project Manager. Throughout the years I served on various boards in my community. When asked, I sing the anthem and other patriotic songs for veterans, village events and candidates.
I was first elected to office in 2013 as a township trustee in Wheatland Township. There I voted to cut the spending of the previous township administration and we refunded the money the people were overtaxed in the form of zero ($0) town fund taxes on their property tax bill. In 2020 I won my first two year term for county board. As a county board member for Will County Board, I have been a proponent of reducing taxes, government efficiency and streamlining services. Recently, I was featured in the Chicago Tribune Daily South Town and WJOL news for my stances against raises for county wide officials even though I am running county wide and I stood against a $50M ($80M with interest) bond issuance for Will County Forest Preserve capital projects boondoggle. This is not election year posturing. I have made it my mission to protect the taxpayers against government abuse and overreach. I will continue to do so as I long as I hold office.
My vision for the Recorder of Deeds office is to have an end user friendly website that is integrated with other sites to provide efficiencies like that of other counties. I want to continue to support our Veterans and encourage the relationship with veteran’s services. Most importantly, I would like to protect homeowners from fraud and look for enhanced programs in furtherance of that goal. I see an office that is vital to the services that Will County provides with employees and taxpayers who are proud to support it.
I would be honored to have your support as I expand ways to serve the people of Will County.
Sincerly,
Raquel Mitchell
